Fashion Swap Party
I can remember being in my teens and I would borrow clothes from my friends and as silly as it sounds.. just one "new to me" pair of jeans could update my entire wardrobe! Well- I think there's a long history of shoppers in my family genealogy! I can remember back to being about 8 or 9 yrs old and my grandma Della had her basement full of clothes racks. She ran a thrift store I think it was the "Care Closet" and all the proceeds went to the local Cancer Society in Penticton,BC. My mom was a bargain hunter too and I think it was just a given that it would be passed down through the generations!
This past weekend we ( Purposeful Gatherings Group) had a Fashion Swap which I would say is one way for me to fill the thrift shopping need and bless others around me. Here are the rules we gave the ladies:
"What Not to Wear: Purposeful Gatherings Edition" (Fashion Swap / Hair & Make-up Party)
Sunday November 2
2:00-5:00pm
Rebecca's House
Fashion swap - bring 10 pieces of clothing / handbags / jewelry / shoes to swap with other women (maternity clothes encouraged)
Professional hair and make-up artists will be available for consultations.
1. Bring your gently worn fashionable clothing & accessories ( pants, skirts, sweaters, jackets, shirts, shoes, purses and jewelry in baggies please)
2. Bring cleaned ready to wear clothes on hangers. You are welcome to bring more than 10 items- plz just have them on hangers.
3. Come ready to clothes swap and have fun!
We love our kids- but this is a ladies only event! You are welcome to invite more friends... just click on "invite more people" on the left and please make sure to RSVP.
What a turn out! We have had 3 of these Fashion Swaps so far and what a blessing they have been. My hope is that women have met new friends and found some new outfits & accessories to spice up their closets!
I have BIG dreams for the Swap idea. I hope there is a chance to do a bigger scale Swap at our church someday. When times are tough and money is tight- we need to find creative ways to help and encourage each other!
If you plan on hosting an event similar to this, I would love to help in anyway! Email me and let me know- I would travel to be apart of something like this!
